Sound Immersion For A Chaotic World

Hi, I’m Derek!
I’m glad you are here.
ABOUT ME:
For 15 years, I have dedicated my career to humanity-first leadership, focusing on resilience through well-being and mindfulness in corporate environments in the healthcare sector. But my deepest transformation began four years ago when I first experienced the profound healing power of sound therapy as a participant.
What started as personal exploration quickly became a calling. I have spent the past four years immersing myself in sound healing virtually and in-person, embracing the therapeutic sounds of crystal bowls, chimes, and ocean drums. In December 2024, I felt the call of the crystal bowls and enrolled in immersive training to share this unique way of achieving renewal and meditation. My unique background bridges the corporate world and wellness with these healing practices, bringing a grounded, professional approach to sound therapy.
As the owner and facilitator of Resilient Sound, I strive to create therapeutic sound experiences designed to help you reconnect with your body, breath, and inner strength. My previous clients consistently report feeling calmer, sleeping better, and experiencing improved overall well-being after sessions.
I continue to deepen my expertise while offering sessions at accessible rates. My group sound baths provide a supportive community environment where typically 5-8 participants gather for transformative 60-75-minute experiences.
I understand the challenges of modern life because I have lived them. My approach combines professional expertise with genuine empathy, creating a safe space where busy professionals and wellness seekers alike can find the peace and resilience they're searching for.

Sound immersion is a guided experience using sound frequencies—such as crystal singing bowls, drums, and chimes,—to create a calming environment that supports deep relaxation, stress reduction, and mental clarity. This session offers a gentle, meditative experience through the soothing tones of crystal bowls, chimes, and drums. Even if it sounds too good to be true, I invite you to experience it for yourself—give yourself the gift of rest and see what unfolds.
Think of it as a solo practice in community—similar to yoga, but without any movement required. You'll join others in our healing space, but your journey remains deeply personal. Simply arrive, make yourself comfortable on your mat, and prepare to allow yourself to be open to the session.
During our 75-minute sound bath experience, you'll lie in a comfortable position while I guide the room through therapeutic sounds using crystal bowls, koshi chimes, zaphir chimes, ocean drums, and other healing instruments. There's no right or wrong way to experience a sound bath—some people drift into deep relaxation, others find clarity through the vibrations, and many simply enjoy the rare gift of uninterrupted stillness.
No meditation experience is necessary. No special preparation required. Just bring yourself and an openness to receive whatever the session offers you.

Sessions range from $20 and up depending on length, services, and retreat times.
My sound immersion prices are rooted in accessibility, my novice status as a practitioner, and ensuring I can pay facility rentals. -
Nothing is required but you may consider the following for your comfort.
A yoga mat, blanket, or cushion —you’ll be lying down for most of the session.
Many people find a pillow or bolster to support their knees, helps comfort.
A pillow or eye mask if you’d like extra comfort or darkness.
A water bottle to stay hydrated or green tea to support your immune system.
A journal if you'd like to capture any thoughts or ideas that the session enlightens you with.
-
Dress in loose, comfortable layers that allow you to move freely and relax completely. Think cozy clothing you'd wear for a gentle yoga class or meditation session. I recommend bringing extra layers since your body temperature may drop as you enter deep relaxation during the 75-minute session.
Comfort is key—you want to focus on the healing sounds, not adjusting uncomfortable clothing. Soft fabrics, stretchy materials, and layers you can add or remove will help you stay comfortable throughout your journey.
Many people find that the relaxing benefits of sound immersion make them chilly - Derek likes a warm hoodie and wool socks.

Absolutely. Sound healing is increasingly supported by scientific research that validates what practitioners and participants have experienced for centuries.
Washington University's research on "The Healing Power of Sound" demonstrates how therapeutic sound frequencies can positively impact our nervous system, helping shift us from stress response to relaxation. The study shows measurable changes in brainwave patterns during sound therapy sessions.
The NIH National Library of Medicine has published compelling research on "Effects of Singing Bowl Sound Meditation," which found significant improvements in participants' stress levels, anxiety, and overall well-being after sound bath experiences. The study measured physiological markers like heart rate variability and cortisol levels, providing concrete evidence of sound healing's therapeutic benefits.
What I find particularly exciting is how this research aligns with what I witness in my sessions at Resilient Sound. Participants consistently report better sleep, reduced anxiety, and a greater sense of calm—benefits that science is now confirming through measurable data.
The vibrations from crystal bowls, chimes, and drums don't just feel good—they create measurable changes in our bodies and minds. When you experience our "A Journey Within" sessions, you're not just enjoying relaxation; you're participating in a scientifically-supported therapeutic practice.
Research continues to expand our understanding of how sound frequencies affect everything from pain management to emotional regulation, making this an exciting time to explore sound healing as part of your wellness routine.

I’m an inclusive, LGBTQIA2S+ affirming practitioner. I am a Queer cis-gender male.
My practice is inclusive and affirming for everyone, I welcome you to share as much or as little as you want with me in order to help you feel comfortable joining my sound space. -
I don't accept insurance directly for Resilient Sound sessions. However, I've discovered that many corporate wellness programs offer reimbursement through wellness spending accounts or flexible spending benefits.
If you have access to wellness dollars through your employer, I recommend checking with your HR department or benefits administrator to see if sound healing sessions qualify for reimbursement.
I'm happy to provide a receipt with session details that you can submit to your wellness program for potential reimbursement. This way, you can still prioritize your wellbeing while potentially getting financial support from your employer's wellness benefits. -
That's perfectly normal and welcomed! Falling asleep during a sound bath means your nervous system is deeply relaxing. Many participants drift in and out of sleep, and you'll still receive the therapeutic benefits of the sound vibrations. There's no wrong way to experience the session—your body knows what it needs.
-
Absolutely. Sound healing can help release stored tension and emotions, so it's completely normal to feel emotional responses during or after a session. Some people experience tears, joy, or other feelings as their body processes and releases what it's been holding. This is part of the healing process and shows the session is working for you.

No problem at all! Bring whatever you need to be comfortable—extra blankets, pillows, or a yoga bolster. You can also bring a chair if lying down isn't comfortable for you. The most important thing is that you're relaxed and able to receive the healing sounds. Your comfort is my priority.
